🛑 At the age of 3, #Simone_Biles and her infant sister were placed in foster care when their biological mother, Sharon, was unable to take care of them due to her drug and alcohol addiction. Simone opened up about her upbringing and how the experience affected her and Adria in her Facebook Watch series, Simone vs. Herself.
“I don’t remember a lot about foster care, but I definitely knew that we had been taken from our biological mom and then you just think you’re going to go back to her,” she said in an episode titled “Who Am I?”
The two-time Olympian noted that she and Adria were “very fortunate” to not get split up while in foster care. They spent three years in the foster care system before their grandparents officially adopted them. Today, Simone refers to Ronald and Nellie as her parents.
Simone and Adria’s two other siblings, Tevin and Ashley, were adopted by Ronald's sister and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio.

Calabash CEO Wax Dey speaks out regarding the issue between #Gasha and Eddy Kenzo and some possibilities that Gasha can get her royalties.
He wrote, “Many people don’t realize that music is an intellectual estate just as land is real estate, and in many instances, intellectual estate can be far more profitable than real estate in the short and long term. But just like real estate, it needs to be handled formally like a business. You can’t sell or buy land with a verbal agreement.
I feel really sad that our sister has had to go through what she has gone through. Please stop tagging me. She knows how to get to me if she wanted to.
Let me explain a couple of things for the benefit of all artists. A recorded song has 2 components - the Master and the Publishing. The Master is the actual recording which is being sold and the publishing is the composition (lyrics, melody, arrangements)
I have read both sides of the story and this is what I have to say:
1. Whoever paid for the recording owns the Master, that is the right to sell the song. This is tricky because if Gasha paid for the recording then it belongs to her, but if Eddy Kenzo did, then it belongs to him, even if she is the artist. If Gasha released the song in 2015 and by mutual agreement, Eddy Kenzo release it on his own platforms a year later, it implies that they might have agreed to share the Master rights (in that order). Usually, you’d expect either party to get a cut of each other’s sales, but in the absence of a written agreement (split sheet), this becomes complex and difficult to resolve. To be fair, I’d say that #Eddykenzo had to pay sales royalties to Gasha from the sales of his album (which were substantially more than Gasha sold) and vice versa. So yea, I believe Eddy a Kenzo owes Gasha some money, even in the absence of a written Agreement. The complication now arises from how to enforce it without a written agreement or in this case, his word against her word.
2.publishing is composition money you get paid when your song is streamed on Tv, radio, public venues, streaming sites or even cellphones. If someone else remixes the song, you still own their publishing. Publishing wise, they both wrote their verses. They both should share the royalties. A share should also go to who arranged the song, and the lion’s share should probably be reserved for who wrote the hook + their verse. Again, there is no split sheet, so these are issues that need to be addressed by both teams and agreed on on paper. Somewhere around 2015, I did sign a publishing deal with Gasha which was applicable retrospectively (meaning that Calabash could go in search of her publishing money and enforce the receipt thereof), but in 2016, she requested to rescind the contract, and I did not object. But it is her right and she should protect it ASAP. In Zangalewa’s case, they were not even aware, so I took it upon myself to find them and sign a publishing deal which permitted us to work on it.
Also remember this: for every sale or digital sale, even for Callertunes, you still earn a publishing royalty. So she needs to go down the rabbit hole and look for all those earnings, and while fighting, make sure that they are protected now. The song has a long lifespan. Some of those incomes should have been controlled by Gasha even if Eddy Kenzo released on his channel. Unless they had an agreement that he would claim her rights and he did. Even so, he would have to pay her her cut.
These issues are complex and it’s best to work with a lawyer or someone with knowledge when doing collaborations. You cant blame Artists for the situations - I doubt even Eddy Kenzo understood what he was doing at the time. I even have a case with a big company such as MTN now where they do not understand what is use of a split sheet on music they paid for.
And as I said, both artist teams need to establish or enforce a written agreement now because the song is still active and earning revenue. Online hype is good, but it doesn’t get money in the bank.

RESUMÉ DU ROMAN «VILLE CRUELLE» D'EZA BOTO
I_ INTRODUCTION
Dans ce premier roman publié sous le pseudonyme d'Eza Boto, le lecteur découvrira, tracés avec une force qui s'accomplira exemplairement dans les œuvres postérieures, fort célèbres, de Mongo Béti, les drames d'une Afrique dominée, ceux qui opposent les humbles, les simples, les paysans, aux différents types d'exploiteurs du monde politique, économique et religieux. Publiée en 1954, cette œuvre dénonce une situation historique qui, en tant de lieux, dans ce monde, est toujours actuelle.
L’œuvre «Ville Cruelle» se situe dans ce passé colonial ou beaucoup de peuples africains se sont vus coloniser par de grandes puissances européennes comme la France, le Portugal, l’Angleterre, etc.
L’œuvre ville cruelle est située dans un contexte colonial.C’est une œuvre dans laquelle l’auteur relate les fatalités de la domination coloniale.
II – PRÉSENTATION DE L’ŒUVRE
a_ Biographie
De son vrai nom Alexandre Biyidi, Eza Boto ou Mongo Beti est son pseudonyme d’écrivain. Il est né le 30 juin 1932 à MBalmago au sud du Cameroun.Après avoir été exclu de l’école missionnaire, il entre au lycée de Yaoundé.Bachelier en 1951, il va poursuivre ses études à paris d’où il sort agrégé en lettres.La plupart de ses œuvres publiées en France où il résidait, ont été l’objet de scandales et d’interdictions.Nommé professeurs à Lamballe en Grande Bretagne, il a écrit pendant plus de dix ans (1958 à 1972) puis vient de sortir coup sur coup en pamphlet de deux romans.

III_ STRUCTURE DE L’ŒUVRE
L’œuvre comprend 223 pages dont 13 chapitres et trois grandes parties :
•La première partie parle de Banda et de sa mère (amour filial).
•La deuxième partie parle des tribulations de Banda dans la ville et les rencontres avec Adilia et Koumé.
•La troisième partie parle de la réalisation des vœux de Banda et son épilogue.
IV_ RÉSUMÉ DU ROMAN
L’œuvre Ville cruelle raconte l’histoire d’un jeune homme appelé Banda.Orphelin de père, Banda fût élevé par sa mère à Bamila.Il voulait se marier pour satisfaire le vœu de sa mère presque mourante.Mais il lui fallait de l’argent pour la dot de sa fiancée.C’est ainsi qu’il décida de vendre son cacao en ville.Mais là, l’homme fut confronté aux terribles réalités de la ville marquées par la cruauté, l’exploitation, le vol, le crime, etc.
V_ ÉTUDE THÉMATIQUE
¶ Thème principale : les pratiques coloniales
Tanga était divisé en deux : Tanga Nord ou Tanga indigènes et Tanga Sud, ville coloniale marquée par la présence de l’administration, des forces de l’ordre, les centres commerciaux des grecs, boutiques et comptoirs d’achats de cacao, des usines.
¶ Thèmes secondaires
La violence : La ville est caractérisé par la violence sur les Noirs.On a mis le cacao de Banda au feu et il a été victime de plusieurs bastonnades (illustration page 44 à 47)
L’exploitation : Les blancs exploitaient les Noirs dans la vente du cacao.Puis M.T employaient les jeunes mécaniciens et ne les payaient pas.
SSLa corruption : pour accéder à la ville, il fallait être au coté des Blancs (page 54).Il fallait ‘’graisser des pattes. ‘’
L’injustice : Le cacao de Banda fut mis au feu (page 44).Les Blancs avaient plus de privilèges que les Noirs (page …).Ils faisaient ce qu’ils voulaient et si l’on posait plainte contre eux, la plainte n’avait pas de suite.
L’amour filiale : La mère de Banda l’aimait beaucoup et elle s’est battue pour lui (page 9)
La solidarité : Les cinq femmes ont aidé Banda à porter son cacao jusqu’en ville et venaient chaque fois rendre visite à sa mère (page 47)
VI_ ETUDE DES PERSONNAGES
Personnage principal
Banda : C’était un pauvre garçon misérable et souffrant.Il avait un caractère généreux et plein de tendresse.
Personnages secondaires
Odilia : C’était une jeune fille belle, aimable et dévouée.
Koumé : C’était un jeune homme qui travaillait chez M.T., il était dur, courageux et aimable.
Tonga : (oncle de Banda) C’était presque un vieillard inoffensif autrement qu’en paroles, hâbleur, menteur, hypocrite et passablement rancunier (illustration page 116)
Mère de Banda : Pauvre et misérable, toujours régulière à la messe.Elle s’est sacrifiée afin d’élever son Banda.
VII_ ÉVOLUTION DE L’INTRIGUE

Le jeune Banda se rend en ville pour aller vendre son cacao, voilà qu'il est pris cours par de multiples événements de la ville où les stigmates de la colonisation font rage. Quelques mouvements de révolte et la poursuite de longue haleine des autorité bouleversent la route bien tracée de Banda.Déjà pour commencer, arrivé en ville, tout son cacao sera mis au feu car seuls les blancs ont les droits, mais pas les noirs surtout quand il s'agit d'un grand business comme le cacao... le livre nous présente les atrocités de la colonisation.
X_ CONCLUSION
L’œuvre Ville Cruelle a révélé l’atrocité des pratiques des Blancs en Afrique.Dans cette œuvre,il est aussi question de Banda qui était animé d’un grand espoir en pensant vendre son cacao, mais il sera plongé dans un gouffre car les grecs vont lui voler tout son cacao en lui faisant

De son vrai nom Alexandre Biyidi, Eza Boto ou Mongo Beti est son pseudonyme d’écrivain. Il est né le 30 juin 1932 à MBalmago au sud du Cameroun.Après avoir été exclu de l’école missionnaire, il entre au lycée de Yaoundé.Bachelier en 1951, il va poursuivre ses études à paris d’où il sort agrégé en lettres.La plupart de ses œuvres publiées en France où il résidait, ont été l’objet de scandales et d’interdictions.Nommé professeurs à Lamballe en Grande Bretagne, il a écrit pendant plus de dix ans (1958 à 1972) puis vient de sortir coup sur coup en pamphlet de deux romans.

III_ STRUCTURE DE L’ŒUVRE
L’œuvre comprend 223 pages dont 13 chapitres et trois grandes parties :
•La première partie parle de Banda et de sa mère (amour filial).
•La deuxième partie parle des tribulations de Banda dans la ville et les rencontres avec Adilia et Koumé.
•La troisième partie parle de la réalisation des vœux de Banda et son épilogue.
IV_ RÉSUMÉ DU ROMAN
L’œuvre Ville cruelle raconte l’histoire d’un jeune homme appelé Banda.Orphelin de père, Banda fût élevé par sa mère à Bamila.Il voulait se marier pour satisfaire le vœu de sa mère presque mourante.Mais il lui fallait de l’argent pour la dot de sa fiancée.C’est ainsi qu’il décida de vendre son cacao en ville.Mais là, l’homme fut confronté aux terribles réalités de la ville marquées par la cruauté, l’exploitation, le vol, le crime, etc.
V_ ÉTUDE THÉMATIQUE
¶ Thème principale : les pratiques coloniales
Tanga était divisé en deux : Tanga Nord ou Tanga indigènes et Tanga Sud, ville coloniale marquée par la présence de l’administration, des forces de l’ordre, les centres commerciaux des grecs, boutiques et comptoirs d’achats de cacao, des usines.
¶ Thèmes secondaires
La violence : La ville est caractérisé par la violence sur les Noirs.On a mis le cacao de Banda au feu et il a été victime de plusieurs bastonnades (illustration page 44 à 47)
L’exploitation : Les blancs exploitaient les Noirs dans la vente du cacao.Puis M.T employaient les jeunes mécaniciens et ne les payaient pas.
SSLa corruption : pour accéder à la ville, il fallait être au coté des Blancs (page 54).Il fallait ‘’graisser des pattes. ‘’
L’injustice : Le cacao de Banda fut mis au feu (page 44).Les Blancs avaient plus de privilèges que les Noirs (page …).Ils faisaient ce qu’ils voulaient et si l’on posait plainte contre eux, la plainte n’avait pas de suite.
L’amour filiale : La mère de Banda l’aimait beaucoup et elle s’est battue pour lui (page 9)
La solidarité : Les cinq femmes ont aidé Banda à porter son cacao jusqu’en ville et venaient chaque fois rendre visite à sa mère (page 47)
VI_ ETUDE DES PERSONNAGES
Personnage principal
Banda : C’était un pauvre garçon misérable et souffrant.Il avait un caractère généreux et plein de tendresse.
Personnages secondaires
Odilia : C’était une jeune fille belle, aimable et dévouée.
Koumé : C’était un jeune homme qui travaillait chez M.T., il était dur, courageux et aimable.
Tonga : (oncle de Banda) C’était presque un vieillard inoffensif autrement qu’en paroles, hâbleur, menteur, hypocrite et passablement rancunier (illustration page 116)
Mère de Banda : Pauvre et misérable, toujours régulière à la messe.Elle s’est sacrifiée afin d’élever son Banda.

IX_ ****** YSE DU ROMAN
Le jeune Banda se rend en ville pour aller vendre son cacao, voilà qu'il est pris cours par de multiples événements de la ville où les stigmates de la colonisation font rage. Quelques mouvements de révolte et la poursuite de longue haleine des autorité bouleversent la route bien tracée de Banda.Déjà pour commencer, arrivé en ville, tout son cacao sera mis au feu car seuls les blancs ont les droits, mais pas les noirs surtout quand il s'agit d'un grand business comme le cacao... le livre nous présente les atrocités de la colonisation.
X_ CONCLUSION
L’œuvre Ville Cruelle a révélé l’atrocité des pratiques des Blancs en Afrique.Dans cette œuvre,il est aussi question de Banda qui était animé d’un grand espoir en pensant vendre son cacao, mais il sera plongé dans un gouffre car les grecs vont lui voler tout son cacao en lui faisant

Mekatilili wa Menza 🇰🇪 was a prophetess and fearless warrior who led her people, the Giriama, to rèbel against Britiśh imperialism. Born in the 1860s, she is remembered for slapping a B.ritish colonial administrator after disagreement over their imperialist policies and attempts to subdue them.
Mekatilili wa Menza the Mother of resistance, a heroine from Kenya, who rebèlled and fought the colonial invàders. She once said " I am not afraid to speak the truth and fight for my people. My powers come from Kaya, rooted in the spirits of our ancestors"
She was a distinguished, vocal and fearless leader and defended the rights of her people the Giriama by putting up a resistance from the white invaders of their land.
She led the Giriama uprising against the Britišh còlonist. Who were stealing big fertile lands from the people, collecting taxes from the people and their banning of the local brew palm wine(mnazi).
Mekatilili used kifudu dance which was performed during funeral ceremonies to mobilize the people to resist the colonial government or offer forced labor. An oath taking was administered to her followers to bind them to fight for their community and for their lands.
The first time she was càptured by the white men and detained in kisii Kenya where she managed to find her way back home after five years and the struggle for freedom continued.
The second time she was captured and detained in Kismayu in Somali but she still managed to find her way back home and the struggle for liberation continued.
She died around 1925 and was buried at Bungale Ulaya Kwa Jele in Magarini constituency Malindi district. where a cultural festival was held in her honor.
